Dr Ana Dosen

MB BS(Hons), Dip Paed, FRACP

Dr Ana Dosen is a specialist paediatrician and allergist. She has a special interest in food allergy, anaphylaxis and immunotherapy. She has been working for over 20 years in the St George area after completing her training at Sydney Children’s Hospital.

She is a staff specialist at St George Hospital and VMO at Sydney Children’s Hospital.

She is a conjoint lecturer at the UNSW. Ana is a examiner for medical students and also National  Examiner for the Royal College of Physicians Pediatric Division.She also has experience in adolescent medicine. For the past 9 years she has supported the Eating Disorder Unit at Sydney Children’s Hospital as consultant specialist.

She is a member of the Australasian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (ASCIA) and member of the Paediatric and Anaphylaxis Committees.She is available for consultation Monday to Wednesday.

Dr David Carr

B.E. M.B.B.S. FRACP

Dr David Carr is a General Paediatrician experienced in the care of babies and children in acute hospital and outpatient settings. He completed his specialty training with the Sydney Children’s’ Hospital Network. David has special interests in newborn care, allergy and developmental paediatrics. 

David is a Staff Specialist Paediatrician at Canterbury Hospital and a VMO Paediatrician at Campbelltown Hospital Emergency Department. He is a conjoint lecturer with University of NSW. 

Outside of work David is busy spending time with his young family, which has given him additional insight into the joys and challenges of parenting!

David is available for consultation alternate Wednesdays.

Dr Karly Casamento

FRACP, DipCH, MBBS(Hons), BSci(Adv) 

Dr Karly Casamento is a General Paediatrician with an interest in adolescent medicine who has a passion for providing comprehensive and holistic healthcare to children and adolescents. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and completed her training at Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick after completing an M.B.B.S with honours at the University of Notre Dame Sydney and a Bachelor of Science Advanced at University of Sydney. She is experienced in neonatal care and child development and has undertaken additional training in Adolescent medicine at the Sydney Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Randwick where she cared for young people with substance use, eating disorders, mental health and developmental problems as well as bladder and gynaecological problems. Throughout her career, she has been committed to delivering individualised and evidenced based medical care while fostering a compassionate and inclusive environment for patients and their families.

Dr Jamie Cheah

BSc(Med) MBBS DCH FRACP

Dr Jamie Cheah, known as “Dr Jamie” to her patients is a General and Developmental Paediatrician. She completed her training through the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network and has dual specialist qualifications in both General Paediatrics and Community Child Health. Following completion of General Paediatric training, she subsequently trained in neurodevelopmental paediatrics across multiple local health districts in NSW with experience in developmental delay, Autism Spectrum Disorder, intellectual disability and child protection. She is an accredited user of standardised tools for the diagnosis of developmental delay and Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Dr Cheah works as a General Paediatrician (VMO) in a Sydney metropolitan public hospital providing neonatal and paediatric care, in addition to consulting privately. She also works as a Developmental Paediatrician (Staff Specialist) in a public tertiary developmental unit. She takes a family-centred and evidence-based approach in assessment and management. She is currently studying a Masters of Public Health, is a Conjoint Associate Lecturer at the University of New South Wales, and a member of the Australian Society of Developmental Paediatrics and Australian ADHD Professionals Association. When not at work, she juggles the joyful chaos of having a young family, baking and nature.

Dr Chris Elliot

MB BS, FRACP

Dr Elliot trained through the Sydney Children’s Hospital’s Network Randwick.  He holds dual qualifications as a specialist in both ​General Paediatrics (the care of newborns, children and young people) and Community Child Health (developmental and behavioural medicine, public health and child protection).
During his paediatric specialist training, Dr Elliot was awarded the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Examination Medal in Paediatrics as the candidate with the highest examination mark in Australia and New Zealand.
He currently works in both in private consulting rooms in Kogarah, as a Staff Specialist Paediatrician at St George Hospital, Sydney and he holds an honorary Staff Specialist position in the Department of Community Child Health at Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick.
In 2019 Dr Elliot was nominated in the category of “Outstanding Leadership” in the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District Community Health awards.
Dr Elliot is the paediatrician for the St George Paediatric Multidisciplinary Complex Feeding Clinic.  In August 2016 Dr Elliot and the clinic team were awarded the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District Award for Innovation in Integrated Care.
Dr Elliot’s practice is evidence-based and up to date.  He regularly attends relevant conferences and is an active member of the Neurodevelopmental and Behavioural Paediatric Society of Australasia.
He is is a Conjoint Lecturer at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and has received student-nominated awards for his teaching.

Dr Bernadette Hanna

MBBS BSc (Med)

Bernadette completed her medical degree at the University of NSW (MBBS BSc (Med)). She trained in Paediatrics at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead before being drawn to Clinical Genetics; the interface between genetic research and patient care. She has worked with the Clinical Genetics services at Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick, Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Liverpool Hospitals. She is a registered Clinical Geneticist with a special interest in genetic conditions affecting children and connective tissue disorders.

Bernadette is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and Fellow of the Human Genetics Society of Australasia. She previously Co-Chaired the Trainee committee for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. She has provided several teaching sessions to trainee doctors, Paediatricians and Obstetricians in the functional benefits and caution of Genetic testing in their patients.

Dr Sara Kashef  ​

MD, FRACP

Dr Sara Kashef is a Paediatric Allergy and Immunology Specialist with expertise in food allergies, eczema, anaphylaxis, drug allergy, allergic rhinitis and asthma, acute and chronic urticaria and primary immune deficiency disorders. After an illustrious career overseas she has started working in this field as a fellow in paediatric allergy and clinical immunology at Sydney Children’s Hospital in 1999 and is honored with a continuous high profile career.  Her consultations include allergy skin testing and allergen immunotherapy.

She is available for consultations alternate Mondays and Tuesdays.

Dr Lynette Khoury

(CURRENTLY ON MATERNITY LEAVE)

MB BS, FRACP, Grad Cert Allergic Diseases
Dr Lynette Khoury is a General Paediatrician with a special interest in allergy.
​She is available for specialist consultation for a wide variety of paediatric problems and has a particular interest in newborn and infant health.  She also has a strong interest in paediatric allergy and has recently completed a Graduate Certificate of Allergic Diseases at the University of Western Sydney.  She enjoys keeping up to date with allergy research and is a member of the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA).

Dr Khoury also works as a Consultant Paediatrician at Northern Beaches
Hospital, delivering acute care for paediatric patients and newborns.
She enjoys teaching and is an Instructor on the Advanced Paediatric Life Support course.

Dr Khoury is available for consultations on Wednesdays once a month.

Dr Darren Shepherd

BSC (Hons), MB BS, MPH, FRACP

Dr Darren Shepherd is a General Paediatrician and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He has 13 years of experience of working in paediatrics and has been a Consultant Paediatrician for 6 years. He completed his training at the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network in 2013 and since then has worked in remote and rural communities throughout NSW and Queensland.
Darren has also completed a Masters of Public Health via UNSW.  He is currently a VMO at St George Public hospital.
Darren is interested in caring for children from newborns till teenagers with simple and complex medical problems and believes in guiding the child and family unit through challenges to optimize both physical and psychosocial outcomes. He has an interest in newborns and respiratory illnesses.
When not working Darren enjoys climbing, mountaineering, diving and travelling. He has two boys which keeps him busy when not working.

He is available for consultations on Thursdays.

Dr Tony Whelan

BSC (Hons), MB BS, DCH, FRACP

Dr Tony Whelan is a specialist paediatrician with a wealth of experience in general paediatrics in both hospital and outpatient settings. He received his medical degree at the University of Sydney and trained in both Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick and Westmead Children’s Hospital. His experience working at more than a dozen paediatric and neonatal units across New South Wales included specific training in a diverse range of paediatric conditions including allergy, sleep medicine, complex feeding issues and eating disorders. Dr Whelan currently works in private consulting rooms and as a staff specialist paediatrician at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, working with vulnerable families from culturally diverse backgrounds.
Dr Whelan is committed to achieving the best possible care for each child and their family in the critical first 1,000 days of early development. Each child is unique and grows up in a family that plays a crucial role in their physical and mental health. Dr Whelan takes the time to get to know each child and family to fully understand their concerns. He has experience working in multidisciplinary teams with schools, speech pathologists, occupational therapists and other health professionals to ensure the best outcome for each child.
As a hands-on father of two young children, Dr Whelan understands the challenge of raising independent and resilient children.

Dr David Youssef

B. Pharm, MB BS, D. Ch (USyd), FRACP

Dr David Youssef is a Paediatric Cardiologist and Paediatric Pulmonary Hypertension Specialist, having completed training at The Stollery Children’s Hospital, Canada, in Paediatric Echocardiography, 3-Dimensional Imaging and Paediatric Pulmonary Hypertension. During his medical training, he gained extensive experience at multiple hospitals, including Gold Coast, Prince Charles, Tweed Heads, Liverpool Hospital; as well as Sydney Children’s network, where he focused on Paediatric Cardiology training. Dr Youssef also holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Sydney.

His special interests are:

  • Paediatric congenital heart disease
  • Echocardiogram and 3-Dimensional imaging
  • Research into new and emerging therapy for Paediatric Pulmonary Hypertension
  • Providing medical school education at both the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales

He currently works as a staff specialist across The Sydney Children’s Hospital Network at both Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick, and the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.  He is a conjoint lecturer at the University of NSW and a clinical lecturer at the University of Sydney.
